Ritu Lal, M.A., AMFT, APCC is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 124477) and a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC 10484) practicing under the supervision of Dr. Paula Bruce (PSY 16248). She completed her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Liberal Arts at Sarah Lawrence College and received her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from University of Massachusetts Global. Ritu received training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Hillside Wellness Center working with adolescents, adults, and couples. Her clinical experience includes a wide-range of disorders including anxiety and PTSD, depression, mood dysregulation, ADHD, grief, personality disorders, and relational issues within the couple and family system.

Ritu has a strong interest in working with trauma-related disorders and, in particular, the complexities of the brain-body connection and their impact on trauma processing. Prior to her career as a psychotherapist, Ritu worked in the entertainment industry. Her previous experience in entertainment leaves her well positioned to understand the highs and lows of working in a creative field and the difficult trajectory inherent to both creative and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Ritu’s clinical approach is a mix of psychodynamic, somatic, and mindfulness modalities. She helps clients gain insight into their past and grow from their adversity in order to make empowering, positive choices in their present and for their future. Ritu is committed to fostering a secure and nurturing environment for her clients — one that is tailored to each client’s needs, promotes their strengths and self-efficacy, and helps develop effective coping strategies to create measurable change in their daily lives.

Ritu is also committed to an anti-racist, fully inclusive perspective to psychotherapy and approaches her work with clients with care, sensitivity, and respect for their unique, diverse identities.
