Katherine Merritt, M.A., AMFT is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 117735) practicing under the supervision of Dr. Paula Bruce. (PSY 16248). Katherine received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and received extensive training at The Maple Counseling Center, working with adults and couples. She has experience working with clients presenting with a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflict, career dissatisfaction, grief, and chronic illness. Katherine has a particular interest in working with people who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling during their childhood or adolescence. Other areas of interest are identity development and life transitions. Katherine’s prior training and background in arts and design makes her especially attuned to the needs of creative professionals.
Katherine works from a psychodynamic framework with adults, adolescents, and couples. She strives to create a non-judgmental, inclusive therapeutic space where people from all backgrounds can examine themselves closely and honestly. Katherine believes that insight about yourself, your past, and your relationships are key to long-term change and increased self-esteem.
